Simple. Honest. Food.
Since 1917, Bar Harbor® Foods has been located on a beautiful sheltered cove
in Downeast Maine. For generations, we have strived to offer the best natural
products and we’re proud to say we’ve done just that.
Our Sustainability Story
in 2020, Bar Harbor Foods® was awarded the Marine Stewardship Council’s Ocean Champion Award for our MSC-certified sustainable seafood products. Being MSC certified means we are required to trace the sources and vendors for our seafood, ensuring that our products contain only those harvested from sustainable fisheries and by certified companies.
Natural Ingredients
Our soups, chowders, and bisques contain Grade A quality ingredients, sourced from manufacturers that produce the best in their industry.
From vegetables to herbs and even organic wine, you can trust that we work really hard to ensure the high quality and extraordinary taste we’re known for. Our products are shelf-stable, fully cooked and ready to eat.
Natural Additives & Preservatives
Chowders and bisques…our creamy hearty soups that use natural starches like tapioca, natural colors like annatto, and spices such as turmeric. In fact, all of our soups use only the highest quality natural products.
To protect freshness, we use natural preservatives like oregano and lemon juice.
Sustainably Produced
In our clam and fish products, we use MSC certified sustainably caught fish (except Mackerel) harvested from the cold, clear Atlantic Ocean. With our status as a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified producer, we have chain of custody requirements from the source to our factory.
And, our tin-free steel cans with an EZ Open lid can be recycled, along with the recycled paper and vegetable ink we use for our labels.
